Philosophy

For most people today who are bombarded with email, voice mail, and information overload, we believe it is critical for any training program to sift through that noise and reach the learner at a deep level.  For companies to invest their time, money, and attention to learning we believe the content must be innovative, highly engaging (entertaining even), relevant to the employee’s roles, appealing to all learning styles, and immediately applicable.  But most importantly, we believe that learning is a process (and not a series of random events) that should translate into measurable improvements in performance.

It’s a proven, unique method to transform individual and corporate character while increasing bottom line productivity.  The program incorporates modules on topics that include: integrity, perseverance, commitment, leadership, respect, teamwork, responsibility, self-control and compassion.  By telling the stories of high impact individuals who are highly respected in business, we are able to model these character values and provide direction on how to apply those lessons in day to day corporate life.  The program provides for flexible implementation options including any blend of eLearning, E-Delivery, instructor led training, web-based conferences, and self directed sessions using live action video or animation as support.

What We Believe

Heart of a Champion Corporate Learning believes that there are immediate and tangible results from the implementation of this program in addition to the enduring effects of developing employees with stronger character. Through careful planning, assessment, communication, engaging content and delivery, and careful attention to reinforcement, we have seen measurable improvements in performance.

Program Implementation

In our experience, there are three critical phases that lead to the best results: Planning & Assessment, Implementation, and Measurement.

During the Plan and Assess phase the following is accomplished:

•

Validation of the need for the HOC program in terms of business impact and the expected value to the organization and individual

•

A baseline of the understanding and frequency of application for the selected character values

•

Alignment with the corporate vision, mission, and values is established

•

A project team is established with roles and timelines for implementation and project management

During the Implementation phase the following is accomplished:

•

A communication plan where senior leaders, HR, training and managers can articulate the purpose, process, and payoffs expected from the implementation of the program

•

The educational content is delivered

•

Managers are equipped with tools and techniques to reinforce and recognize improved behaviors

During the Measurement phase the following is accomplished:

•

The participant’s reactions and level of comprehension is determined

•

The frequency of behavioral application is determined

•

The level of management involvement and reinforcement is assessed

•

Correlations to business impact and metrics are established

•

Recommendations for ongoing improvement are made

HOC subscribes to and supports the SEL philosophy and instructional design approach.  SEL is the process through which adults acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to recognize and manage their emotions, demonstrate caring and concern for others, establish positive relationships, make responsible decisions and handle challenging situations constructively.  (Collaborative of Academic, Social and Emotional Learning, CASEL, at UIC, www.casel.org.)

Social and emotional learning refers to both a core set of competencies and a process of learning whereby adults learn the skills, attitudes and values to manage themselves, their relationships and their tasks effectively and ethically. Over the last decade a growing body of research has expanded the understanding that learning is a social process and therefore, relationships and emotions are central to the learning process. Programs that focus on developing these core competencies and creating learning environments that are safe, caring and highly participatory will be the most effective in creating positive outcomes
